PAPI'S PREGNANT

PAPI'S PREGNANT

Papi’s Pregnant chronicles my transgender, non-binary and queer pregnancy through a burgeoning medical field during preconception. Traversing montage, cinema vérité style, traditional interviews with the medical community, and familial discussions; the film is a portrait that reveals personal and healthcare challenges and biases faced by the queer community when beginning parenthood. Underrepresented in the contemporary cinematic moment, Papi’s Pregnant documents my experience in a well-supported queer familial and medical community in Chicago, IL then in Los Angeles, California. This recent move prompts me to find new queer & trans-inclusive and supportive medical care. In learning more about fertility through my doctors and researchers, we discuss the experience of going off hormone replacement therapy (HRT), learning about ovulation patterns for options to conceive, and donor negotiation.

Can your girlfriend get you pregnant?”
